Hi Marie

I seem to remember this happened to me when I was using an older version
of Word some years ago. That's how I discovered the control F6
alternative as I never could alt tab between two open documents back
then.

I'm currently having a row with a roll of Christmas paper that I want to
cut up into smaller sections, so somehow your problem is currently more
appealing than mine! (smile).

I also use Word 2003, so will have a look next time I have two documents
open.

Can't find a Word window menu, got to the compare/merge in tools but
couldn't work out what was to be done as there was only the option to
open one document.
ctrl+f6 will do for now.
Thanks anyway.
Marie

        Marie,

Go to Word's "Window" menu when you have two documents open.
All being well there will be a "Compare Side by Side" option listed.

        George.

side by side

I used to be able to do this regularly using alt+tab to go from
one document to the other, extremely handy for translation purposes.
Now, when I open one document, the other disappears and I can't remember
altering anything in the settings in Word.

Can someone help please? Have an urgent translation to do.

Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to answer.

        Cheers now,

        Marie
