Folks, thank you very much for all the suggestions. Very helpful indeed! I think I've enough ideas to go by now so thank you all once again.

Cheers,
Amro

HI,

This is an on demand install, that is unless you did a custom install of your office product, the ocr component might not have beeninstalled. Thus you should find your office cd and run the installation maintenance to add the document imaging component.

On first run, you'll have to set up your scanner for it and then scan away. It's been too long for me to remember details but the component is fairly accessible and also straight forward. As always, explore the menus and check the help.

Happy scanning!

Doris

At least with office xp, once installed, you'll find an entry for it in the Office Tools category in your start menu.

For scanning simple documents, microsoftDocument Scanning might well
be sufficient. It is included with MS Office xp (2002) and higher. I
only have the version included with my office Xp here and was
actually quite impressed with the scanning results. They kept up with
what I got with Finereader at the time. so if you have MS office and
just want to scan the occasional document, this may be all you need.

Cheers,

Doris
