[access-uk] boot-up problem?

hi guys,
I'm having a problem booting up my system.
When I turn on the computer system, nothing happens. Well that may be a
little wrong.
The system begins to boot up, but there is nothing on the monitor screen. It
just sits there, with a big black screen.
The system is running xp home, but the problem is the computer doesn't boot
to the desktop at all,
