hi caroline, many thanks, that's exactly the setting. means you get a bleep on 
the caps lock, scroll lock and one other i can't remember. it isn't the control 
key though.

  I think the setting you want is in Control Panel, Accessibility Options.  You 
then need to check Use Toggle Keys.  This does seem to produce a beep for other 
toggle keys such as the Ctrl key as well, but at least it works for caps lock.

    hi all, on my old pc, when i pressed the caps lock key, i used to get a 
beeping sound, a slightly different sound for on and off. i don't get that on 
this pc and i can't find an option anywhere. am i missing something? not a 
major problem, but it was helpful, now i don't get any sound at all from it.
