I also have a pair of the cobalt kitchen scales, fairly old now, but
with the round metal section the bowl sits on and a switch on the side
with three positions, for metric, imperial and off, plus the reset
button on the front. I also don't find them particularly accurate, I
mainly use them for weighing ingrediants for bread or cake baking.
Also, I have a very recent set of personal scales for weighing myself,
from cobalt, and these don't seem very accurate at all, unless my
weight really is four or more pounds differnt from one day to the
next... But when there is so little choice with where we can purchase
such goods from the companys concerned really don't seem overly
concerned with making decent stuff as we'll be forced to buy whatever
they offer even if it isn't particularly good; For kitchen scales I'm
seriously thinking about going back to an old fashioned style balance
set, where you just place the weights on one side and balance it on
the other with the ingrediants being measured; I was guessing I could
buy a set of these off of the high street, and then braille up the
individual weights myself (with sighted assistance to identify the
weight of each weight).
