Largely a matter of preference, I think. I have used eudora as long
as i have been online, which dates back to the time before i lost my
sight. There are a few points, however, that make me prefer Eudora
over Outlook Express. Mainly this is the way Eudora handles
attachments and stores messages. with Eudora, attachments upon
arrival are decoded and stored in an attachment directory, from which
they can easily be transferred to another location or deleted, and
the latter independent of the message they came with. Oe stores
attachments as part of the message they were sent with and it is not
possible to delete an aattachment but archive the message that came
with it. With eudora, on the other hand, this is quite easily done.
Secondly, with eudora, message mailboxes can easily be backed up and
transferred to another computerwithout any special software and it is
also possible to pull up a eudora message mailbox and read it in a
third party editor.
I am not very objective nor qualified to compare Eudora and OE
because i only use OE to manage my hotmail account. Eudora has very
powerful filter capabilities. I know that OE has what it calls
"message rules" to filter mail but i am not sure how these compare to
Eudora's filters.
Aside from the above, I know I am happily biased in favor of Eudora
and it is the application I use most in relation to the internet if
not the application I use most over all. Eudora has come a long way
since the 1.x version that fit and could be run from a single floppy
disk but I still love it the same. <g>

doris
