      You should already have windows messenger as it comes as part of windows 
xp.  If for some reason it has been uninstalled, then you can download it from  
www.jfwlite.com which is easier than the microsoft site.  if you uninstall msn 
it shouldn't affect anything. from

    OK, firstly I'll apologise to one of us in particular.

    That done, could someone helpful please help me with the following. I've XP 
pro with SP2 and JFW 4.51 running. I had msn 5 and now msn 6.02 and I want to 
do the following but need assistance and guidance.

    1. Instal windows messenger and use it as my instant messaging utility.

    2. uninstall msn 6.02 and whatever it leaves in the registry; if this is 
needed.

    Could someone with the knowledge to help, run through the idiot steps for 
me?
