the website I think says that the new model does not have a separate power 
supply so it can, for example, be used with a laptop on the move.

This is all very interesting.  I was interested in purchasing the USB
freecom stick, but in view of your comments, I decided not to.  The nebula,
on the other hand, looks very promising.  I'm just glad I waited before
making a final decision.  I think it'll be the Nebula USB for me.
