hi all, okay i've just replaced my old dvd-rom drive with a dvd-rw drive. all i did was unplug the old drive and plug the new one in using the same cables. all seemed fine, put a pre-recorded dvd in it and it plays fine. but this morning i tried putting a blank dvd in with the intention of shifting some stuff off my rather full hard drive. as soon as i put the blank dvd in, the label in my computer changed from "dvd-rw" to "cd drive" and trying to access the blank dvd i get an error which says: incorrect function. i've tried microsoft knowledge base via the trouble shooting option in properties, but it goes on about easy CD extractor, which i don't have on this system so is unhelpful. if i take the blank dvd out again, the label changes back to dvd-rw. i've checked in control panel, system, device manager, and all looks fine, list my drives name, the fact it's a dvd-rw drive, even asking me to select which region i'm in, which i've done. anyone got a clue what's going on here?
