Correct Catherine. Probably yes, you could scan the file in kurzweil or
in Adobe itself if you are running Acrobat itself rather than Reader.
You might be able to determine more detail about the file in question by
accessing the document properties which if the original was scanned will
show the source as the make and model of scanner used.

Hi,

If I have a pdf file which, when open, says alert empty document, does
this probably mean the document is comprised of pictures?  This is using
Adobe Reader 7.0 and JAWS 7.0.
