There is the book streaming service which is currently only available for Pc.

I totally share your pain. More than often I get CDs I've never asked for or would even dream to listen to in a million years, despite in the past providing book requests. I still use the service and look forward to the update.

For now though, I have joined Audible and love it.

Speaking as a non braille user (well am learning, slowly) those braille books must get delivered by a hunky postman! They must weigh a ton!

Do RNIB provide electronic braille for the minority who are lucky enough to have a braille display?

I wonder if RNIB's talking book library will ever be rolled into an app. And I don't mean to simply manage our book shelf (although that would be nice via an app), but to actually download / stream content to save them sending out a CD which they simply bin upon return.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned.  But RNIB sent a mail out to
all it's members letting them know that the talking book website is going to be redesigned and that we will have the ability to see what books are on our
mailing list and be able to edit them.
