Hi. I'm sure you've already considered this, but figured I had better put it out there all the same. There exist many USB to serial adapters, and quite a few PCI to serial port cards. I have also seen a unit that was supposed to make serial devices work over a network, though I am unsure as to how well this works. If I may ask, does it have to be built on to the motherboard? If so, you may have a hard time finding one.
