It might be worth pointing out that while the National Rail app is £5, there are two other apps which use the same data and offer mostly the same features, free. One is the CrossCountry app (but works across the whole UK) http://itunes.apple.com/app/train-search/id331578824 The other is the Trainline app which allows you to buy tickets, too: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/thetrainline/id334235181 I'd be interested to see how these other apps stack up for visually impaired users, compared to National Rail's own "pay us a fiver" app. On 12 April 2010 12:55, John Gallagher <john@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hi all, > We hear so much about lack of access for us but I installed the uk rail app > on my i-phone and could not really use it. > I put out a message on the viphone list and a company got in touch. > Dave Addey from the company said that they would like to make this app more > accessible for blind people. > I now have the updated app hear and it is truly amazing. > you can set your home station and see all the trains leaving and arriving. > You can set a route say from Leeds to Windermere and see the platform the > train goes from and you can see where to change trains. > When you do a search for trains you can scroll down the list of stations. > this is truly brilliant. > cheers. > > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] > ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > ** and in the Subject line type > ** unsubscribe > ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the > ** immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] > ** or send a message, to > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq > > -- Providing support to Britain's 500 talking newspaper services http://www.talking-newspapers.co.uk/ ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
