Hi Brian

Yes this is more or less the kind of thing I was imagining, although I think you would need to have the option of making it domain-specific rather than page-specific, to allow for different URLs with the same page layout. Also I would have an option in the "add bookmark" or whatever dialog box, which would allow you to jump straight to the first/second/third instance, as well as "next" and "previous". I often find myself having to do the same JAWS Find over and over again on the same website, and this would be a great way of automating it.

Hi James

Yes I agree with you completely about the jaws place markers should be storing other information rather than line numbering, as the web is such a fluid environment. That kind of functionality would not be that difficult to write either. Here's my thinking on it.
1. You should have up to ten bookmarks (which is a tentative title for the purposes of this message).
2. Initially, you could bring up a dialog box for each bookmark into which you can type the string you wanted to search for. By default the individual line of the web page would be in the dialog, but you would have the opportunity of amending or entering new text instead. The bookmarks would be preserved across Windows sessions.
3. You could press up to ten keystrokes, one for each bookmark, which would find the string. Each press of the keystroke would locate the next instance of the string, or you could have it locate the first instance.
4. The bookmarks should be page specific. So if you pressed a keystroke to locate a segment and it was not applicable to the page, it will tell you that.
5. The bookmarks would be transferrable from one machine to another.

Is that the kind of thing you were thinking about?
