I'm the one that was pushing for reading sessions. Now I concur with
Jarred; let's skip it this summer. Since we first discussed it, I've picked
up other musical obligations for part of the summer, and so won't be
available as much to help out. Also we didn't work out logistics with the
church, preparations for gathering music, prepping the band at large for
the experience (thus leaving them to make other commitments), and other
such nice things.
I think after the concerts we all need a break... except for when we get
together to crowdsource the data entry into the music library database.

So if AISD starts school on August 15, our start up date would be August
23. Does everyone agree with this?
Also, in our last ACWE board meeting we discussed having summer reading
sessions. Is this still in the plans? If so, we should be announcing
these both during rehearsals and in our website.

A few of us were discussing this evening that it would probably be good to
announce to the band when we’re starting back up in the fall before we
break for the summer. I don’t think we’ve discussed that yet, have we?
A note: AISD is, I believe, starting a bit earlier this year than in the
last few years. The first day of school is August 15.
