Hi Ellen
Sorry I didn’t see this message earlier.
Do we still want a headcount?

Maybe Warren or I could help cover some percussion at Westminster. Or there
might be some others in the band that could help.

Also on Westminster:
We are only going to have 1 or 2 percussionists, and a few others are going
to be very short on part coverage. We need to make sure we have enough to
perform.

On the subject of Westminster, the brass band played there last night.
There is no longer a window behind where the band sits. There is a small
platform in front of that new wall. Not sure if any of our percussion will
fit on it. The brass band set up in front of the platform, which pushed
the band a bit further into the room. I suspect it will be about the same
with ACWE. There is a hard wood dance floor, which helped the sound of the
band some, but the room is still extremely dry (lacking in reverb).
We were told we all had to check in at the front desk. This process was
done on a single iPad and took a couple minutes per person. That means it
would take all of ACWE people well over an hour to check in. You have to
answer some questions and then it takes your temperature. The response
time of the device was rather sluggish. We should ask if we can bypass
this, but I suspect they won't want to do that. People should plan to get
there earlier to deal with this. Maybe we should schedule different
arrival times for different sections so not everyone hits it at once?

That was a fast response. : )
We just completed our Spring concert season with 55 players. I can
definitely see if players will carpool.
I would like to get back to you in the next few weeks once I can get a
better idea of the numbers of players for the Fourth of July concerts.
Those numbers tend to fluctuate.

Hello Ellen, yes we are all set for June 28th. We would love to have the
Christmas program and the program by the flute choir. I am in Dallas for
a conference and I return to work only on Thursday. Hope I can get back
to you then about these. I will hold dec 13th for the concert.
Btw, how many musicians will there be on June 28th? Due to the
construction, our parking spaces are limited. Is there any way some can
carpool?
Thanks.

Subject: Upcoming Concerts
Good Morning Ruth,
I am following up to confirm that the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble will be
playing a concert at Westminster on June 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Also I would like to see if Westminster would be willing to host a
holiday concert for Austin Civic Wind Ensemble on Tuesday, December 13,
2022 at 7:00 p.m.
Another group that I play in is the Violet Crown Flute Choir. This is an
ensemble made up of players mostly from the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble
flute section. I am reaching out to see if the residents of Westminster
would be interested in hosting a concert for the flute choir in either
the end of September or the beginning of October. The best times for the
group would be either a Saturday afternoon/evening concert or a Sunday
afternoon concert. The music that the group is currently working on is
mostly show tunes. Please let me know if there is interest in hosting
this. We would enjoy playing for the residents.
Thank you,
Ellen Knapton
