I think you hear that advice because most participants in the other forum are
not real EX guys. If you have access to a metal lathe, you have everything you
need and more... (at 100x the fun factor IMO :-)
Attached is a super simple Nitrous hybrid. You should be able to get this
working in a weekend. If your dimensions are anywhere close, it will work.
-All the parts screw together
-ORings on the closures (Viton preferably - lubricated with an OX safe
grease like Krytox or equivalent)
-Fuel is 1" PVC.
-Case is 1.5" OD x 1/16 aluminum
-Injector is 1/4" compression fitting
-Nozzle is 1/2" throat
-Tiny pinhole in the forward closure

The mid-grade graphite from the graphitestore.com is perfect for small motors.
Comment: I think the ground support equipment will be the bigger challenge.
