[AR] Local shops for machining parts etc.

I am in the S.F. South Bay area for a few years, and need to find a place to have a small custom part machined.
I remember a discussion here on AR a few years back about places where you could go for access to lathes, milling machine, etc. Sort of a hacker space for mechanics, rocketry people and hobbyists. 
Anybody have any pointers how to go about finding such places?
Alternatively, if there are anyone here in the SF SB area who could help me out on a private basis, please contact me off-list. It won't be much of a burden.
