That's how the 'book' was written, through hard empirical data.
Alas, the result was a book about how to stay halfway safe while working
with contaminated oxidizers and materials bought at garage sales. :-)
The peroxide "book", in particular, never got revised to reflect the far
more favorable experiences of people who took a more thoughtful approach
from the start, like the Swedish torpedo builders and the British
peroxide-rocketry effort. So it's not wrong, exactly, but it's full of
elaborate, expensive overkill.
