I've seen no evidence Goddard tested west of the Pecos, near Eden
Ranch, Roswell NM.
Goddard was not funded by the US Army as far as I know until late in
his career, except for a brief stint at Mt Wilson and Muroc,
experimenting with solids.
I thought Goddard was originally funded to publish Method of Reaching
Extreme Altitudes c 1919, by private funding of a patron.
In Roswell, he was funded by Guggenheim, IIRC, perhaps by others, but
never by a government or military arrangement.
He had no copies of George P Sutton. There were no rocket clubs. What
constitutes an "amateur rocketeer"?
