Hi All, I talked with Orpha on Tuesday, and Sheldon had undergone another procedure. A stint that had been placed in a tube to drain fluid from a cyst on his pancreas had gotten blocked, and a larger one had to be reinserted. The doctors had also removed some of the necrotic tissue from his pancreas. He was very sick with nausea and was vomiting some blood. The doctors thought that the blood was coming from the irritated pancreas, and that it should clear up within 24 hours. I called back today (Wednesday), and he was still nauseous, but the bleeding had stopped. According to Orpha his nausea today was a result of 4 different antibiotics he had been given yesterday. He is still suffering pain from the pancreatitis. Orpha said that Sheldon has lost 30 pounds since his hospital stay began. He has now been in the hospital for more than 30 days. Had there been no complications Sheldon would have been released today. Now it looks as if he will be there at least a few more days. Understandably, both Sheldon and Orpha are getting frustrated with the way things are going. Hopefully, he will start showing some improvement and be allowed to come home. Even so he will have to be fed for at least two months through the feeding tube with no food by mouth. Roger Mayhorn Compton Mt
