I had time this morning for a little walk about our place. Thought I'd share my list w/those interested. To begin ,we have nesting Catbirds, a pair of Mockingbirds & Brown Thrashers in the various tangles along the creek & fence rows. I had good looks @ both White-eyed Vireo & Common Yellowthroat in the same areas & of course several Cardinals were foraging & singing there as well. The portion of my trail that goes through the edge of the woods gave me great views of a female Hooded Warbler & a male B&W Warbler. While near the woods, I also heard an Ovenbird,Wood Thrush & Great-crested Flycatcher. A male Ruby-throated Hummingbird & an Eastern Wood Pewee were also seen near the woods. Chimney Swifts , Tree & Barn Swallows, Morning Doves, Red-winged Blackbirds & Cowbirds seemed to be everywhere. Cedar Waxwings enjoyed the red berries from the Honeysuckle bush in the yard while Goldfinches,House Finches & Jays dined @ the feeders. Song & Chipping Sparrows were noted as well as Bluebirds & Robins. The ever present Crow & a lone Raven flying over round out this morning's list. Oops, just remembered the Titmouse & Towhee I saw! DaveR/Breaks,VA PS I'm leading a bird walk that leaves the Visitor's Center @ Breaks Interstate Park @ 8:00AM on Wed. June1, for anyone interested.
