Thirteen people participated in the 18th Annual Blackford Christmas Bird
Count. Four teams logged 39 hours in the field driving 295 miles and hiking
3.75 miles to record 65 species with 5063 individuals. Common Merganser
made its first appearance on the count while a number of species set new
records for most individuals. American Robins were particularly abundant
with 947 reported. Most parties thought this to be a conservative estimate.
Killdeer and Wild Turkey were notably absent.
