Today six of us from the Buchanan County Bird Club birded the Breaks Park looking for spring arrivals, and we weren't disappointed. We found 51 species including Black-throated Green Warblers, Pine Warblers, a Black-and-white Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrushes, Blue-headed Vireos and a White-eyed Vireo that broke the early date record by 3 days. We also had Rusty Blackbirds,an Eastern Meadowlark, 5 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers and 7 Kinglets. We were hoping for a Yellow-throated Warbler but didn't find one in the Breaks. Later when Daryl Owens and I arrived at my house a Yellow-throated Warbler was singing in a tree in my yard. The birders today in alphabetical order were Don Carrier, Sheri Hite, John Kelly, Roger Mayhorn, Daryl Owens and David Raines. Below the list is a photo of the Yellow-throated Warbler.
