Today I perfomed my first season  check of  the bluebird boxes on the Mountain
Top Golf Course here on Compton Mt. While there I heard my first of the season
Yellow-throated Warbler and saw  a FOS Vesper Sparrow. Also in one 30 yard spot
on the fairway I counted 17 Northern Flickers feeding on the ground.
I was also surprised to find 7 bluebird boxes with nests. No eggs yet.

Below the species  list  is a photo of the only  Purple Finch that I saw all
winter. This one showed up on April 1. At first I thought it was a House Finch
playing an April Fool joke.
Also attached is a photo of a Tree Swallow checking out one of the yard nest
boxes.
