Buchanan Birders, On Friday, Sept. 12th, a group of birders visited Grundy High School to view the Chimney Swifts enter the chimney. It turned out to be one of the best flights that I have seen and an estimated 6,000 swifts used the chimney that night to roost. I did manage some video of the event which I posted to YouTube. If you have a high speed connection be sure to click the link just below the video screen which says, "watch in high quality" (otherwise the swifts are blurred). The moon was rising above the mountain which I used as a backdrop in order to see the swifts - which means that I was only filming a portion of the sky over the school. The video is two minutes long.
