The RCBC made its annual field trip to Hidden Valley Lake WMA this morning.
In spite of cool temperatures and a fairly brisk wind, we found nearly all
the usual targets for this trip including Black-thoated Blue and Green
Warblers, Canada Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and American Redstart. We
found very few raptors; only a Cooper's Hawk and a Turkey Vulture with a
quick look at what may have been a Red-tailed Hawk. The latter was not
listed because the look was too brief to be sure. All together, we had 46
species in about 3 hours of birding. The complete list follows.
