I am late posting this, but I wanted to remind those interested that our free
Warbler Day on Compton Mt in Buchanan County will be on Saturday, September
11th this year. Several birders have already reserved a spot on the day's list,
but there is still some room for more birders before our cut off point. We
would like to take everyone but we just don't have enough room.
We bird the yard, field and woods around our house. We usually log between 55 -
60 species for the day with several of them being warblers. The warblers and
other migrants move through the yard and surroundings so birders don't have to
go hiking, unless they want to, to see the birds. (Birders bring their own lawn
or camp chair) Around noon we serve a free light lunch(Birders provide their
own drinks).
The nearest hotel is the Comfort Inn in Grundy. They usually offer a birder's
rate, though I haven't checked with them recently.
Those wishing to attend should contact me as soon as possible. The free spots
usually get filled fast.
