I was gone part of the day today and didn't get to do much birding, but about
6:15 this evening a flock of warblers swooped down to my yard stream. They were
chasing each other and flitting from tree to shrub so fast that I had a bit of
trouble getting on some of them for and ID. I first noticed a Yellow Warbler in
a bush near the stream. Near it was a male Blackburnian that dropped down to
the stream to bathe. Then a second Blackburnian came out the foliage, then a
third and finally a fourth. There were four Blackburnians bathing at the same
time. I was so caught up in the warbler activity that I missed that photo.
Shortly a Blue-winged Warbler flew down to the stream, soon followed by
fourTennessees. One Blackburnian was still in the stream. (see first photo). A
few moments later a female Cerulean flew nervously among the bushes near the
stream but didn't go down to bathe. Next a Black-and-white Warbler went into
the water. It soon left and a Chestnut-sided Warbler came down to bathe with
the Tennessees. It was quickly joined by another (see second photo). Next were
two Yellow-throated Warblers chasing each other, pausing to perch only for a
second before they were off and flying again. The last of the warbler group was
a Worm-eating Warbler that dropped into the stream after most of the others had
left. Among all of these warblers was a Yellow-throated Vireo that dropped
briefly into the stream. It has been my experience that vireos don't spend a
lot of time in the water or on the ground.
Seeing eight warbler species in my yard within five minutes or so made the
evening a pretty sweet one.
Also found in the yard today were Cedar Waxwings, a Scarlet Tanager and a
couple of Indigo Buntings.

My apologies for the quality of the photos. It was getting rather dark when all
of this activity was taking place due to a thurnderstorm moving in.
