Finally a lone Pine Siskin with all the Goldfinches at the feeders on 1/23. Also, a season high of 34 Cardinals on 1/24. The Cardinals in the evergreens near our feeders made me think of Christmas ornaments. The scene was really quite beautiful, especially during all the snow showers! Isn't it interesting that a season that began with high hopes for good numbers of northern species has (so far) been just the opposite? Maybe we'll see an influx during late winter.
