Jerry,
I know foxes love to dig into Yellow Jacket nests. I find holes like that often
here on the mountain, and I know we have several foxes in our area.

While mowing my "holler" this afternoon, I found the hole pictured below. It
was an underground yellow jacket nest. You may be able to see a little of the
nest in the picture, and there were several yellow jackets around the hole.
Clearly some critter done the nest up in order to devour the larva. Any
ideas? Bob_bebirding_Riggs??

  Thanks,

  Jerry
