But then there was that evil race of Klingons. Thinking about the makeup jobs they wore and clues about their culture I think they might have been depicted as middle easterners. Then don't forget the Romulans. Were they evil Chinese surrogates?

When I think of man's progress or lack thereof in becoming more civilized, I 
often look to Star Trek wherein the population of Earth and other planets 
eliminated poverty and learned to live together. True, Earth did experience
