Sadly, Miriam, I do know that what you say is true.
The Working Class has been sold a Bill of Goods. We've been suckered
into believing that we can hitch our wagon to a star and maybe, just
maybe we will land at the end of the rainbow and find our own pot of
gold. We've been raised up on a False Hope. It is peddled to us by
our Ruling Class, because it helps keep us in our place...the place we
are kept in is in the fields, in the factories and in the trenches,
working for the Empire's Ruling Class.
How can we change a system that has us fooled? Education should be
our great strength, but education has been stolen from us and replaced
with Oligarchy Propaganda. Too many of we who have managed to carve
out a bit of shelter, have foregone our brothers and sisters. We fail
to understand that we are on a narrow ledge that could be crumbled
away at a moment's notice. Our only hope is to join together. And
that is well understood by the Empire's Ruling Oligarchy. They have
been in control of the Media, and all information outlets. They are
rapidly closing those few remaining sources, and the internet.
There are times when the best we can do is to simply remind one
another that we really are sane...in a wild and crazy world.

The time to begin being concerned is when you stop feeling awful as
you read these accounts. I am finding it hard to be civil to a couple
of people posting on another List, claiming that some of us are over
playing the "Black Card". Their theme is that all of us living in
America have "equal opportunity". These are blind people talking.
Of course I understand that each of us see the world through our own
personal experiences and influences, so it comes as no surprise that
some blind people do not believe they face discrimination, nor that
Black people do, either. Look at the women who voted for Donald
Trump, and continue to sing his praises. Over the years I have known
Black people who came to hate all Black People, as a means of
survival. And I listen to women who demand that abortion be outlawed,
without concern to the fact that this is a method of controlling
women. I have known preachers and congregations that spit hatred
toward those who did not believe as they believe, even as they sang,
"Jesus loves the little children. All the children of the world. Red
and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves
the little children of the world."
Which reminds me of those Christians who used to chant, "Kill a Commie
for Christ!"
One of my co-workers spewed hatred toward Gays. He was very
effeminate, and married a woman who could have played the role of the
Stron Lady, in the circus. Another co-worker took Christian
Counseling in order to "get right with the Lord" and rid himself of those
Gay thoughts.
But there I go, wandering off into the wilderness.

That book caused real hysteria on the DB Review list. The pro Trump
people hated it. The Democrats on the list didn't like it much either.
I guess that's because the author makes everyone seem rather disgusting.
So I'm taking a vacation from Rising Star, the book about Obama now
also on BARD, to read Taibbi's book. I just started it late this
afternoon and it begins with a description of the NYPD on Staten
Island beating up and arresting a black guy who was sitting in his
car. It is truly very painful to read this stuff. Taibbi is excellent
at reporting. He wrote a book about how the system screws poor people
a few years ago which was upsetting. But this is much more painful
because reading the details of what the police do, no matter how many
times I hear this stuff or read it, it's just awful.
