Local schools may have excelent classes, but transportation issues, higher costs, and lack of accessibility of the curriculum hold some people back. CAVI has spent a decade working to bridge this gap for our students. You can learn to do those things too. Read on... CAVI provides accredited Cisco Academy courses, computer skills courses, and employment preparation sessions for people who are totally or partially blind. The instructors have years of experience in their technical field and are blind as well. Many of our students get a job after graduation, while others focus on pursuing skills related to a hobby. Current Courses The following courses are open for enrollment for Semester 2, 2014 starting in August. * Audio Editing Fundamentals, an introduction to audio editing. * Computers 101, an introductory course for learning to use a computer and screenreader with both a Windows and Mac version. * Intro to HTML 5 and CSS, a course that teaches blind people to create attractive websites for business or pleasure. * Introduction to Programming with PHP teaches students to build fun and powerful web applications. * CMS Fundamentals, a course that will teach students to build and manage larger websites using the WordPress platform. * Intro to Linux and the Raspberry Pi, a course that covers command line Linux basics and Operating a portable computer called the Raspberry Pi. * IT Essentials, a course that teaches computer hardware, operating systems, troubleshooting, and repair. * CCNA5 Intro to Networking, a course that teaches blind people to build and manage all different sized networks.
