National Women's Branch AGM Agenda & Session during BCA 2015 National
Convention in Perth


Hi BCA National Women's Branch Members and non-Members,

Below in the body of this email are the Women's Branch session being held
during the Blind Citizens Australia 2015 National Convention in Perth at the
Mercure Hotel.  

As well as the Agenda for the Blind Citizens Australia National Women's Special
Interest Branch Annual General Meeting.

Both of these events will be streamed live over the Internet as are other
sessions during the BCA 2015 National Convention. 

Non members are welcome, however, non members are ineligible to Vote. 

Please note Daylight Saving will be in effect, so Perth will be 3 hours behind
Sydney/Melbourne time, please check your local time differences.

3:30 to 4:30 PM SESSION EIGHT   The Changing Place of Women Who Are Blind or
Vision Impaired in Australian societySession Organiser: Joyce Jones. Session
Chair: Joyce Jones. Venue:  Caroline, Orelia and Georgiana

Covering education, training, jobs, marriage, family and social
interaction.This year’s National Convention workshop presented by the women’s
branch will feature three women guest speakers talking about their lives over
the years and how they managed with the attitude towards blindness and vision
impairment. Such areas as education, socializing, training and work,
motherhood, living in an ethnic environment when English is not the first
language, traveling as someone with vision loss, and more.  Keeping with the
theme of this year’s convention “Looking forward looking back” for the 40th
anniversary of Blind Citizens Australia, you might be pleasantly surprised just
how far our country has come in making our lives just that much easier and more
inclusive.  Not all barriers have been removed of course, but you will need to
come to our session to hear it all.Questions for our speakers.Panel Members:
Joyce Jones, Jenny Dawson, Christine Simpson and Zel Iscel.

Bio:  Joyce Jones is BCA Toowoomba Branch President and Secretary for the BCA
National Women's Special Interest Branch.-  Jenny Dawson is former President of
the BCA National Women's Special Interest Branch and recipient of the 2013 BCA
Women’s Branch Aspirations Award.-  Christine Simpson is a recipient of the BCA
Women’s Branch Aspirations Award in 2009.  Christine is the Chair of the
Australian Braille Authority and a Member of the Round Table on Information
Access for People with Print Disabilities.  Christine also works at Information
Alternatives which produces information in alternative formats.-  Zel Iscel is
Disability and Diversity Consultant and Consultant with Inclusive World.  
Former Presenter and Producer of 'EthnicAbility' on 6EBA FM a radio program
about disability

Important Note:The Presidents Report and Treasurers Reports will be circulated
to members before the meeting to facilitate a prompt meeting.  There will be
time however, to ask any questions you may have regarding these reports, as
well as any other questions during General Business.
