Have your say, participate in discussions and workshops, enjoy the company of peers, and help us to find solutions to the issues that affect you. People who are blind or vision impaired, family and friends are all welcome. Forum Program9.15am - Registration and morning tea. 10am - 12noon - Morning Workshops (Concurrent):· Creative Writing with Mark Enston - Hosted by the BCA Women’s Branch The Women’s Branch is very happy to present a workshop on creative writing with guest speaker Mark Enston, author and English Lecturer. Mark will discuss starting and completing a story and expound strategies on targeting publishers and improving your chances in writing competitions. Mark is very happy for willing participants to bring along short samples of their writing (around 300 words), which may be read out during the workshop for analysis. All genres are welcome - try to shock us all! There will be time questions and answers. We invite interested people and all writing tragics to come along! OR · Education and Employment – Challenges and SolutionsEmployment and education for people who are blind or vision impaired - the statistics tell an uninspiring story. But what can we do – as individuals and as a group - to improve our career prospects? There are more inspiring stories to be told! Our panel of four will share some of the challenges and opportunities they have met along the way to securing their current jobs. Our panellists will also talk about job satisfaction and the benefits of working or studying for people who are blind or vision impaired. All workshop participants are welcome to take part in the discussion, ask questions, raise concerns and share their own experiences.
