On behalf of the Educational Data Mining Steering Committee, I'd like to announce a major development. Within the next couple of years there will be changes in EDM's organization, with the goal of increasing the sustainability of the EDM conference series for the long-term. In these changes, the goal will be to maintain scientific quality and our community's core values and focus, while setting up an organization that can function smoothly, indefinitely. In line with recommendations from the broader community at the EDM2010 business meetings, the EDM steering committee has decided to found the International Educational Data Mining Society. The creation of the society will involve legal incorporation as a non-profit (location to be determined), and will create opportunities for greater participation and input from the broader EDM community. The founding officers of the International Educational Data Mining Society, chosen by election among the EDM Steering Committee during EDM2011, will be: PRESIDENT Ryan Baker, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA TREASURER Michel Desmarais, Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, CanadaNeil T.
