A division -- also an ugda -- is often a divisia.
Gdud is problematic -- Sizewise, it is today's American battalion and UK
rehiment, but Hagdud HaIvri -- was the Jewish Brigade, which is larger.
You can get these translated through google. I have made a whole lexicon for
the English teacher of military terms. And, it is ALWAYS being updated and
corrected.

A "Gdud" is NOT a division - it is probably best translated as a batallion,
even though common useage is Regiment. A Division is an "Ugda" - about ten
times the size!
