Dear Etniers, The Convention on the Rights of Children which was passed by the UN in 1989 and ratified by every country in the world ( except the USA and Somalia - which have only signed it saying they support it but not ratified it) states clearly the following: ** *The actions, or inactions, of government impact children more strongly than any other group in society.* Practically every area of *government policy*(for example, *education*, public health and so on) affects children to some degree. *Short-sighted policymaking* *that fails to take children into account has a negative impact on the future of all members of society *by giving rise to policies that cannot work *The costs to society of failing its children are huge.* Social research findings show that children's earliest experiences significantly influence their future development. The course of their development determines their contribution, or cost, to society over the course of their lives It would seem that at this point in our STRIKE we need to remind the Ministry of Education about this Convention of Rights. . The reforms we demand are for our children, and for their future. The short- sighted gov't of ours is ruining our future. Let's hope justice prevails.. Aviva -- Try and Fail BUT Never Fail to try !!!
