Now that Barry has brought up the subject.. what about those old English TV shows? So many Israelis remember them fondly and remember them well - just goes to prove how effective they were. For LD kids, and for our "visual" learners which is most of us, TV is such an effective learning tool. It is such a shame that Israel educational TV dropped English from its programming. I remember the days when we'd teach with the text book up to the "magic" point when we'd take the pupils into the TV room for the program.. it was quite exciting for them and I think it was definitely a positive. As well as the set books and programs like Gabby and Debby, and Scooterman, I used to sometimes use the more "ancient" recordings for individual lessons - there was a WONDERFUL and funny old cowboy theme show which taught gerunds and infinitives, and there was the spoof silent movie which dealt with stative verbs. Oh where did they go? I had to stop using them at my school as they were recorded on "Betamax" cassettes and so when the machine packed up...we couldn't find another :-( Those were the days....
