Regarding all the new paperwork and just pain work.
Protesting won't help. No one is listening. We've had Ofek and Oz pushed
down our throats, the 'fiscal clause' (deal between the Treasury and the
Histadrut to deduct from our salaries until the end of 2014) without any
consultation or way to protest. We were promised that we would have Shaot
She' hia to prepare lessons, various paperwork, compensation for meetings
after school, hishtalmuyot, conferences with parents, time to correct
papers, fill in the Mashov, prepare lessons, etc. How many of you have
balanced these hours against the hours of meetings that are coming up -
pedagogical meetings (at least 6 hours and probably more for those teaching
full time), meetings with parents (at least 6 hours), grades meetings, etc.
Etc. In other words, you are entitled to count as many hours you spend for
those meetings as your regular Shaot She' hia (just in case these hours are
at the end of the day and not in the middle, you can go home early, but what
if they're in the middle of the day?). Once you take away these hours, you
will be able to charge Shaot She' hia hours against filling in all those new
forms. What happens when the extra hours you're spending on these
activities, add up to more than your Shaot She' hia? Is anyone counting or
keeping track? What about 'prepare lessons, various paperwork, ,
hishtalmuyot, conferences with parents, time to correct papers, fill in the
Mashov, prepare lessons, etc ? Not to speak about WHERE! We were promised
work space to do all this, weren't we?
The only thing that will help us is if we simply do not take on every piece
of extra work that is being demanded from us. What will happen if I simply
don't do it? Will I be fired? The kids will suffer? Let them do what they
have been doing till now - pay for the services of a professional. We do
not want to do this work. We want to teach. We do not have time to do this
work. We don't even have time to teach any more. We have no time to
prepare, we have no time to grade, we have no time to sit with our students!
It's time for the system to recognize the needs of teachers as well as the
needs of the students. All I'm going to do about this is TEACH, and nothing
more!!!
JUST DON't DO IT!!
