Dear Everybody,
Mimoona has just rolled around, and I'll exempt myself this year from the
muflettiation surrounding our house to get ready for tomorrow and the next 2
months of school.
ETAI was on the 26th, right? and I raced back from the conference to a
house that was being prepared for pesach by myself and my kids, as my wife
was in Jerusalem helping her 94 yr old mother through her final days on
earth. Nobody really believed she would die, so we planned a big seder with
guests and a whole turkey,but she did, Monday morning - erev Hag, and we
ended up, ferrying a sederful of food including the Turkey to Mivasseret and
telling our guests they had to fend for themselves. This is obviously the
outline for a story which goes onto the outline pile.
So I haven't really unpacked my ETAI bag til now. And I must first off give
a big bouquet to the ETAI staff who were so helpful to me in setting up my
presentation; Due to a printer's error I thought I had plenty of time from
the moment I arrived at the college til zero hour. It turned I had only
minutes and I hadn't brought a toplap. There was a wonderful life saving
person named Liraz who offered to stay on stage the whole time and push da
PowerPoint buttons while I ran around down stage waving artificial limbs,
playing songs, and trying to make a lecture hall work like a classroom. I
had to use 3 objects: the mike, the remote for the CD player, and something
else, and whichever I lifted up, it was the wrong one. As usual, 90 minutes
went by like a sneeze, and I dislpayed 90% of my material reather than the
usual 25. So many thanks to Liaz and other conference planners and gofers.
May the great spirit of English Teaching get you through the next two
months.
