I don't suppose there are any more teachers on this list. They must all
have gone out and shot themselves, after reading Jimmy's letter.
People on this list have often voiced the opinion that it is not the fault
of our fearless leaders that the English teachers are being weighed down by
ever-increasing and impossible to fulfil demands. It is the fault of some
other body; nothing to do with the English Inspectorate.
Who, then, is the culprit, I wonder.
Isn't it time for English teachers to down tools and refuse to comply with
these unreasonable demands, which are simply lowering the level of English
in this country.
Jimmy, if you have the time, you would do teachers a favour if you could
apply what you 'learned' to a short poem. It will either show that
HOTS/literature is a great idea, which produces terrific insights into the
literary piece, while raising the level of the students' English...... or
not.
