Hi All,

I just finished reading this interesting article. I'm not surprised by
Smith's comments and it emphasizes a lot of what I feel about report cards,
both as a teacher and parent.

Laurie

"This is not a report card!" my father exclaimed two months ago, when he
read the end-of-year document that his grandson Yannai brought home after
completing his third year at the Kehila Democratic School in Tel Aviv. "This
is what a report card looks like!" he said, waving the second-term
certificate of his firstborn granddaughter, Noor, a graduate of the gifted
students' class at the Graetz School, who is now entering seventh grade at
Ironi Aleph; both are state-run schools in Tel Aviv.
