----- Original Message ----- From: Jean Vermel - jean@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: a personal invitation The School of Advanced Studies of the Kibbutzim College of Education is offering the diploma course Certified Online Instructor (COI) in the 2009-2010 academic year. The course is ideal for English teachers wishing to integrate ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and online learning in their classes. The course is also targeted at school principals, counselors, and teacher trainers. The full diploma course is comprised of five individual courses, which award a 180-hour "gmul hishtalmut," ideal for teachers in their Sabbatical year. It is also possible to register for any one of the courses separately and/or to spread the courses over one or more years (see note below). The lessons are delivered via distance learning by a group of lecturers who are experts in the field. Studying from the comfort of your own computer at home allows flexible time management while enabling you to experience distance learning first-hand! Given the emphasis on flexibility that characterizes the world of online learning, we also tailor course requirements to fit individual needs. This means that each participant is encouraged to define course projects to fit a specific teaching context, and that participants preferring to study in English may submit work in English. Course Specification - Online learning: from course planning and development to assessment (60 hrs) - Technology-rich learning environments: integrating blogs, wikis, multimedia, and "Second Life" in teaching and learning (30 hrs) - Theories of learning and online instruction (30 hrs) - Synchronous online teaching: theory and practice (30 hrs) - Issues in digital culture and values in the digital age (30 hrs) Note You may register for any one of the above courses separately or in any combination of your choice (for example, one course in the first year, another two the following year, etc.). The diploma Certified Online Instructor (COI) is granted on completion of all five courses. Although a teacher on Sabbatical can take all the courses in one year, teachers and counselors who are working and studying at the same time (typical of today's "lifelong learner" population) can complete the diploma requirements over a number of years.
