I have just spent 8 days in Norway. Everyone we met spoke English fluently,
including the airport-bus driver and the kids working as cashiers in the
supermarkets. In other countries, including Germany, we've often
encountered people who don't speak English. Being able to communicate
easily with absolutely everyone we encountered in Norway, no matter what age
or profession, was a pleasant surprise. I,, too, wondered about their
English language education there, but it didn't occur to me to ask anyone
about it. Silly me.
