Subject: attracting English teachers
If the ministry of Education wants to attract quality English teachers they
must do the following:
1) recognise degrees and certifications automatically and retroactively from
recognised universities and Ministries of Education in ENGLISH speaking
countries.
2) be honest about requirements and assist new teachers in obtaining the
credentials not giving them red tape and bureaucratic shuffles.
3) English teachers teach English not history, philosophy, citizenship, or
Hebrew literature.
4) double the salaries of teachers to bring them in line with Western
standards. In Canada I would be making about 45,000 CAD a year which is
about 148,000 NIS per year or approximately 12,000 NIS per month.
5) Respect the native speakers living in Israel and provide them with a
special curriculum to meet and satisfy their needs - this would attract
their parents who might be teachers.
