Not quite relevant - but in a recent teachers' meeting we discussed which
teachers we (the teachers) were most influenced by. Almost every one there said
that they hated their sifrut teacher the most!

Subject: depressing literature - re: Sharon Tsur's posting

My youngest son is in 9th grade. He LOVES to read and reads a lot, but he
hates his Hebrew Lit. classes. Over and over again we hear the same
complaint: "we started a new story in class today but its just like the last
one - someone has a really miserable life and dies".
I discussed this with teachers of Hebrew Lit at the school where I work and
they told me that many kids say literature = depression.
It's a shame to add that feeling to English classes...
