Hello ..

I've seen the following sentence in a grammar book, but I'm not sure it's 
correct.

1) I haven't washed the dishes because there wasn't any hot water. (Is it ok 
to have a past verb in a present perfect sentence? Shouldn't this be isn't?)

2) Can you help me with the missing form of "lose":

Last summer the football team ________________ (practise) all summer but 
they ________________ (lose) their first five games.

(any chance of a present perfect progressive "lose"?)
