----- Original Message ----- From: laurie ornstein - laurenmadeline@xxxxxxxxx Subject: "peace mongering" Dear Everyone, Although I've been silent for some time, I can no longer remain so. My many years in this profession call upon me to relate to the ETNI discussion at hand regarding the projects and oral Bagrut exam. I cannot accept the name calling here. ("liar") . Teaching is our calling. We chose our profession with conviction. We live our work. And our work is our living! Many ETNIers have expressed their well-thought out opinions and explained themselves bravely, clearly and openly. I'll refrain from repeating them here. I think that Sharon has commendably written an excellent letter in which she relates, point by point, to the difficult issues at hand. I anxiously await to hear the answer she receives. And I hope she gets an answer. Many others have also written letters to various officials on different levels. This is because they care and are trying to find a way to work through these difficult issues and moral dilemmas we're all facing. Let my piece here speak peace among us. We're young and old, new teachers and experienced and we come from different places and backgrounds. But we are all dedicated to our profession and pupils and want the best for them. I've always been a fighter and on the front lines of protest when I believed in something. Right now, with my white hair to prove my years and experience, I want to try and make the transition from protester to peacemaker here.We should be at peace with ourselves and among ourselves.
